Ashfield District Council Elections 2027
As you may have seen in the news, Reform UK has won its latest battle with this awful Labour Government. We have stopped their plans for local government reorganisation thanks to legal action taken by Reform-led councils.
This means the elections to Ashfield District Council will now go ahead in May 2027.
To that end, we are looking to start our candidate selection process as soon as possible.
Last year we won every seat in Ashfield at the Nottinghamshire County Council elections, and you can see the difference a Reform-led council has made already as our roads are now significantly better.
We now want to rid our area of the Ashfield Independents completely, and take control of Ashfield District Council.
We are looking for local people to apply to be Reform UK candidates for next May's elections to help us do this.

If you are not quite sure and want more information, or if you would just like to find out more about being an election candidate and a district councillor, we are holding a candidate information meeting this Thursday, 10th September, 6:00pm at the Rifle Volunteer pub, Forest Rd, Skegby, NG17 3BL.

THE SEATS UP FOR GRABS
There are 35 seats in total on Ashfield District Council.
However, the Ashfield Reform UK branch is only responsible for 25 of these, as Hucknall does not fall within our jurisdiction and is instead managed by the Sherwood Reform UK branch.
This is because the local Reform branches follow the Parliamentary boundaries as opposed to council boundaries.
Therefore, we need to select 25 candidates for the Ashfield District Council elections to stand in 19 different wards (some wards have 2 seats).

THE CANDIDATE SELECTION PROCESS
You must be a Reform UK member to apply to stand as a Reform UK candidate. This is non-negotiable.
If you are not already a member, you can join the party here: Membership | Reform UK
If you're already a party member, you can apply to Reform HQ to become a candidate on Reform UK's website by clicking the link below.
At this stage, you will be vetted by Reform HQ's vetting team. You will have to provide links to your social media, scans of your passport, proof of address, a CV, and a headshot picture.
If you pass the vetting stage, you will join Reform UK's official approved candidate list.
At this point, the local party branch (Ashfield Reform UK) will need to select you to stand for a specific ward.
You will be invited to an interview with the Branch Executive Committee members, where they will ask you a series of questions, including which ward you would prefer to stand in.
The Branch Executive Committee will then decide whether to select you as a candidate or not.
If selected, you are then the official Reform UK candidate for the ward that you have been selected for.
