Back in May I chose my Cabinet, and their two deputies, who have worked exceptionally hard within their allocated remits to run, deliver and delve into each portfolio. I am proud of all their achievements which are documented here on our six-month review.
The wider group of back bench councillors work exceptionally hard behind the scenes, supporting us with all that we are achieving and helping us drive ideas forward. I would like to thank the team, all 41 Reform members, for their six months of hard work.
I am sure many can see the roads and highways changing. We have come at this piece of work with a โRight, first time approachโ. I accept there will be some temporary fixes in some areas until the job can be professionally completed. Moving forward, I would like to see jobs done once, done well and be fit to last for years to come. This is only the start of the work; there will be much more to come.
Currently we have reported 8,860 potholes and resurfaced 14 and half miles; at the end of March 2026, it will be 17 miles. We have also re-introduced more efficient ways of resurfacing, which offers better value for money. This will enable us to resurface miles of road more cost effectively.
We have introduced an annual scheme where each councillor can choose 3 roads within their area to be repaired quicker. Further funding has been secured to ensure the work continues and we deliver our promise to you to fix the roads and make the highways fit for purpose.
