Lee Anderson Gives His Verdict Before the Government's Winter Budget

This is the day we have all been dreading. Today we will all once again watch the Labour Government make every excuse and blame everyone but themselves for the state of our country. Then, Rachel from accounts will raise taxes, break Britain even more, drive our best and brightest out of the country, and send the cost of living spiralling out of control.

The Reform UK Member of Parliament for Ashfield has given his verdict on Chancellor Rachel Reeves' Winter Budget.

It looks like if you get up for work then you'll be worse off after today. Yes we must always protect and support our pensioners, genuinely sick and disabled but there are people who just simply will not go to work.

Today Rachel from accounts will give them a pay rise courtesy of hard working taxpayers. If you are able bodied then you should not be living off the state.

She will claim that they have no choice but to raise taxes, but raising taxes is a political choice. There are several ways for the Government to raise money. Last week, we at Reform UK identified five areas where the Government could plug the gap in public finances.

Firstly, cap foreign aid at £1bn to save £10bn. Secondly, raise and tighten the immigration health surcharge to save £5bn. Thirdly, deport all foreign criminals to save £580m. Fourthly, end universal credit for foreign nationals to save £6bn. And finally, reform PIP for non-serious anxiety cases to save £3.5bn. These measures would save over £25bn and prevent tax rises.
