Lee Anderson MP: "Labour and the Tories broke our roads, Reform will fix them."

Our roads have been at a completely unacceptable state for many, many years now.

Continuous Tory and Labour administrations left our roads to deteriorate, to the point that they are now akin to something from the third world.
Some have even made comparisons between Nottinghamshire's roads and the surface of the moon. We have 2750 miles worth of roads in Nottinghamshire, and around 1300 miles of that are now in a state of disrepair.
That's why when Reform UK took control of Nottinghamshire County Council nine months ago, we have taken the bull by the horns with the humongous task to fix our broken roads.
This will by no means be an overnight fix, and it will take some time to get them to where we want them to be. But our new County Councillors are getting on with the job and I am confident that residents will see a real difference during Reform UK's premiership at Nottinghamshire County Council.
Late last year, Nottinghamshire County Council held a highways review with the aim of finding different approaches to fixing our roads, different avenues of funding for it, and ways where we can do it more efficiently.
The review highlighted 21 recommendations to improve the way that the council does road maintenance, and Reform UK are actioning them so that we can get the best results for residents.

On Friday, I, along with Councillor Mick Barton the Leader of Nottinghamshire County Council and a number of Reform UK County Councillors, visited JCB to have a look at getting their new big Pothole Pro machines.
These are industry-leading bits of kit that can fill a pothole 6 times faster than the usual method. And soon, we're hopeful that Nottinghamshire County Council led by Reform UK will be getting some of these to help us fix our broken roads. Some other Reform UK-led councils have also started rolling out these new JCB pothole machines to much success.
This will co-inside with our new First Time Approach that started on Monday, 2nd February. This means that going forward, new potholes will get a proper fix involving sections of the road being cut out and then filled with a proper seal, rather than some bloke stamping on a cold mix of tarmac.
If there is an emergency pothole in the middle of the road then this will still get the emergency fix in order to meet the required time limits, but then following this they will get a proper repair shortly after.
Finally, you may see other political parties shouting from the rooftops about our roads in Nottinghamshire but just remind yourself of this.
For the past 20-25 years, Labour and Conservative administrations have neglected our roads resulting in the state they are in now. Our roads got into this state under their watch.
We at Reform UK are going to fix them.
