New Spiking Statistics Show Numbers Remain High

Statistics uncovered by Ashfield's MP Lee Anderson show that spiking incident reports to the police reached 19,347 between January 2021 and June 2023, a two and a half year period.

Spiking is the illegal act of giving someone drugs or alcohol without their knowledge.

The Reform UK MP wrote to the Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood following the revelation of these new statistics.

Lee Anderson MP took to social media to publicise his letter:

"Spiking Statistics."

"I recently wrote to the Home Secretary following shocking statistics around spiking that show that the police received 19,347 reports in a two and a half year period. This is despite spiking incidents being widely underreported for various reasons."

"Women should be able to feel safe when they are out enjoying themselves. We need to do more to protect women."
