Prime Minister says Government is 'monitoring' Ashfield District Council

Prime Minister Andy Burnham has confirmed the Government is monitoring Ashfield District Council as Reform UK Member of Parliament for Ashfield, Lee Anderson, asked during Prime Minister's Questions if the PM would send the commissioners into Ashfield District Council.

At Prime Minister's Questions on Wednesday, Ashfield's Reform UK MP Lee Anderson claimed the authority was being "run by criminals" and urged the Government to "root out corruption" at the council.

In Andy Burnham's response, he agreed to a meeting between Lee Anderson and the Secretary of State for Local Government, Angela Rayner, to discuss his concerns.

The Prime MInister also confirmed that the Government is mointoring the situation at the council.
