The Reform UK Councillor for Sutton North was elected to Nottinghamshire County Council in May and has recently set up a petition to stop speeding on Dalestorth Road, Skegby.

The petition calls upon the highways authority to take action to stop dangerous speeding on the Skegby road that stretches from the Fox & Crown pub into Sutton-in-Ashfield.
Residents have been complaining about Dalestorth Road for years but feel the situation is getting worse. Councillor Mason has witnessed firsthand Dalestorth Road being used as a racetrack. Vehicles ignore the 30-mph speed limit, often undertaking dangerous overtakes as speeds normally seen on a motorway. The road links through to two primary schools but despite the vast number of young children being walked to school, drivers so not slow down. It is one of the most complained about issues that Sutton North residents bring to her attention.
Over the years, there has been countless accidents. Residents have reported their concerns about the road time and time again but worry that someone is going to be seriously injured, or worse, killed by a speeding vehicle if preventative action is not taken. The most recent accident on the road involved a crash into the street railings which Councillor Mason has reported to Nottinghamshire County Councillor.
Councillor Mason is now campaigning for more action to be taken to address this issue and for 30 mph signs to be immediately installed.
Councillor Mason said:
“Speeders are racing up and down Dalestorth Road, and far too often. There have been numerous accidents now.
“Safety is paramount. Many families rely on this road daily, and parents are in fear for their children's safety as vehicles zoom past, disregarding speed limits. I am shocked that there isn’t even signage that states the road is a 30-mph zone.”
“That is why I have set up a petition to demand that action is taken to prevent speeding on the street before a serious accident occurs.”
