The pay that Nottinghamshire's new Reform UK leader and top team will get has been confirmed, with the party saving over £100k on salaries.

A report that was presented to a full Nottinghamshire County Council meeting on Thursday (July 10) says the amount of additional allowances being paid will plummet under the Reform UK administration. The report says that the annual amount of special responsibility allowances paid last year was £789,021.

Changes made by the Reform group mean that the amount of special responsibility allowances paid this year will be £681,464. The council says the savings made will be reflected in the budget for the upcoming year.

The report says the savings have been made primarily by having far fewer deputy cabinet roles. For councillors holding more than one extra responsibility, they are only allowed to choose one special responsibility allowance.

The fact that Reform has chosen its deputy leader and council vice-chairman to hold extra roles therefore means money has also been saved in this respect.

Council Leader Mick Barton said said: "I've put a cabinet together and I could actually put seven deputy cabinet members together, I've only filled two of those posts, so there's a saving there already."

"We've already made some savings, but again, that's a group decision. It's not just my decision and we'll be making those decisions in the forthcoming weeks and months."
