The Reform UK Ashfield MP Lee Anderson has written to Royal Mail and the Secretary of State for Business and Trade to highlight significant issues with Royal Mail deliveries. The MP says there is a wide-spread public belief that Royal Mail is prioritising parcels over envelopes for deliveries.

The Ashfield MP Lee Anderson has written twice to Royal Mail as well as to the Government.
The Ashfield MP Lee Anderson has written twice to Royal Mail as well as to the Government.

The issue started as the MP wrote to Royal Mail to complain of significant delays to mail deliveries of up to 4 weeks in some places in Ashfield. Royal Mail wrote back to the MP to say that these delays are being caused by significant staffing shortage and resourcing challenges.

Lee Anderson MP has now written back to Royal Mail requesting what incentives are given to Royal Mail staff, including to management to have parcels delivered on time and if the same incentives are given to other mail.

He continues that a prompt response would help to address the speculation, and points to the 'overwhelming' response he had from the public to his first letter.

The MP also wrote to the Secretary of State for Business and Trade to address concerns around the Czech EP Group takeover of Royal Mail. He claims that serious issues seem to have only gotten worse since the takeover.
