Ashfield's Reform UK Member of Parliament has spoken out following the conviction of Sharaz Malik, who has been found guilty of raping a woman on Sutton Lawn last summer.

Lee Anderson MP took to social media to expose the individual as an asylum seeker living in Ashfield. At the time, he claimed that the police had asked him to remain silent on this fact.
This revelation sparked protests in Sutton in Ashfield, which saw hundreds of people take to the town centre, marching through the high streets in protest of illegal immigration.
Sheraz Malik now awaits sentencing for his crime.
Lee Anderson MP said:
"The public deserved to know the truth about the Sutton Lawn rapist being an asylum seeker. I will make no apologies for exposing the truth."
"The asylum seeker Sheraz Malik who raped a woman on Sutton Lawn last year was found guilty this week. Many of the media reports that followed this verdict pointed to the fact that last year I exposed this animal as an asylum seeker. It's obvious that the police and the whole judiciary were very reluctant to allow the public to know the true identity of this vile creature. The public deserves better, so I exposed the truth, and given the opportunity I would certainly do it again."
"This is a person who has no right to be here in the first place, but thanks to our broken asylum system, successive Governments have allowed criminals like him with backwards morals and medieval views towards women to be imported into this country. My thoughts are with the victim and her family as we await sentencing."
