Elected in 2015, Kate served as Mayor for four years until 2019 and was instrumental in driving forward major regeneration projects, championing growth in the region and working with local government and national government to raise the profile of Mansfield during her tenure.

Kate Allsop was also selected by the Brexit Party to stand for election to be Mansfield's Member of Parliament in 2019 until Nigel Farage announced an election pact with Boris Johnson's Conservative to stand down in areas where there were already Tory MPs in a bid to help Brexit pass.

As a mark of respect, Mansfield District Council’s flag will be flown at half-mast on the day of Kate Allsop’s funeral, and a minute’s silence will be observed at the next Full Council meeting.

Kate began her public service as a Mansfield District Councillor in 1991, serving as the ward member for Oakham Ward and Berry Hill as well as being elected as a Nottinghamshire County Councillor in 2001.

Reform UK Nottinghamshire said:

"Kate did so much good for the Town. She leaves a real legacy with all the regeneration work she did all over the District."

"Rest in Peace, Kate."
