Residents celebrate as Nottinghamshire breaks national record for the most major road surface improvements compared to anywhere else in the country.

This is part of a record-breaking £182.5 million investment package to improve our highways.
Work since April has seen:
✅ 152 surfacing schemes completed.
✅ More than 56 miles of road resurfaced.
✅ 150 miles of surface dressing.
✅ The use of different equipment, materials and repair methods to make right first time, permanent road repairs.
✅ 44 schemes covering carriageways, footways, drainage and bridges already completed.
Cllr Barton said: "We are leading the way in repairing our roads with the record level of investment and our extensive 12-month programme of work.
“The scale of this year’s programme shows that we are not simply reacting to potholes – we are taking a much more proactive approach to improving and protecting our road network for the future.
“These teams will be working all hours throughout the winter months and I am determined that we will not let up on delivering on our promises to make our roads safer, smoother and more resilient for the years ahead.”
